Our Projects in D.R. Congo

Dieudonné Karahanyuze, a leader in the Free Methodist church and the Refugee Pastors’ Fellowship, had been attending Comfort Rwanda’s pastors training in Kigali, Rwanda. He alerted us to the massive needs in his area in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He highlighted the plight of rape survivors, including those left with babies through rape – women who were being forced into prostitution to earn money to feed those babies. We began to support those rape-survivors through small income generating projects. We subsequently visited Goma where we saw the deep needs of so many people. Mindful of the way the world took too long to respond to the crisis in Rwanda following the genocide, we pledged to work in Democratic Republic of Congo as well as Rwanda. We do all we can to support the recovery of rape survivors, ex-child soldiers, pygmies, refugees and other displaced people.

In 2011 we established a sister organisation in the Democratic Republic of Congo - Comfort Congo, which is now doing an amazing work in bringing relief and resources to many of these areas of need through a variety of projects. We are currently involved in providing funding for Rape Survivors Surgery, establishing a Maternity Clinic, funding Schools, providing for Ex-child Soldiers, supporting Displaced Peoples & Refugees and encouraging Income Generation.
